About
About Explore Mekong
Explore Mekong plans private active trips in the Mekong Delta: riding, rowing, walking and climbing, graded and timed around the heat and the water. This page explains how we work, what we will not sell you, and why there are no reviews here.
What we do
We plan two- to four-day private trips in four parts of the delta: the former Ben Tre province and An Binh islet, An Giang around Chau Doc, Tram Chim in Dong Thap, and Ca Mau. Every trip is built around time spent moving under your own power, with a guide who rides or walks with you and a vehicle that carries everything else.
Three habits shape the trips. We grade every day and publish the kilometres. We set the clock by the heat and the tide, not by when a coach would arrive. And we write down every fee we pay on your behalf, with the source and date, so the quote can be checked line by line.
How we work
- By form and email. You send the form, we reply by email to the address you give, and everything is confirmed in writing.
- Private only. Your group, your dates, your start time.
- Sources on the page. Facts with a shelf life, such as fees, opening hours and water levels, carry a source and the date we checked.
- Honest about what has changed. Floating markets have shrunk, wild cranes at Tram Chim have declined, fees change. We say so.
- Small groups. Up to twelve riders on the lane trips, ten on the wetland and Ca Mau trips.
What we do not do well
- Gentle, low-activity days. If you want most of the day seated, in a boat or a vehicle, other kinds of delta trip will suit you better.
- River cruises and luxury stays. We do not sell overnight cruises or high-end lodges. Our rooms are guesthouses, homestays and town hotels.
- Large groups. Above twelve riders the lanes become crowded and the trip changes character.
- Languages other than English. Our guiding is in English.
- Fast road cycling. Nothing here suits riders who want speed and long stages.
Why there are no reviews on this site
We do not publish testimonials or star ratings. Reviews on a company's own site are chosen by the company, and you cannot check them. We would rather you judge us by what you can check: the kilometres, the grades, the start times, the fees and their sources, and the written quote.
If you have questions a review would have answered, ask them in the form. We will answer them in writing.
Where to go next
Read the route table, the grading page or the flood season page. When you are ready, the how to book page explains the steps, and the contact page has the form.
Common questions
Questions travellers ask most
Are you a tour operator or an agent?
We plan and run the trips described on this site, through local guides, drivers, boat operators and rooms that we name on each quote.
Do you run group departures?
No. Every trip is private to your party.
Can you plan a trip that is not on the site?
If it is active and in the delta, yes. Describe it in the form.
Do you work outside the Mekong Delta?
No. The delta is all we do.

Tell us about the trip you have in mind
Dates or a month, how many are riding or walking, and how active the group is are enough to start. We reply by email with questions or a written quote that names the route, the km per day and every fee.
