Four routes, one table
Every segment we ride, row or walk, with its distance, its surface, its grade, the hour we start and what the water does to it through the year. Read the table first; the trip pages follow.
The trips
Ben Tre & Vinh Long lanes
Coconut and orchard lanes on the Ben Tre side, then a loop of An Binh islet. Read the trip.
An Giang wetlands & mountains
Ride to Tra Su, walk up Sam Mountain at dawn, climb toward the 716 m summit of Cam Mountain. Read the trip.
Tram Chim & the flood season
Two boat sessions at bird hours and dyke-lane riding across the Plain of Reeds. Read the trip.
Ca Mau & U Minh
The new expressway south, rowed boats in U Minh Ha and the cape at the end of the mainland. Read the trip.
The route table
Distances are the kilometres we plan to ride or walk on each segment, rounded to a range because the guide shortens or extends by the weather. Surfaces and seasonal notes come from the sources listed under the table. Grades follow our own three-step scale.
| Segment | Trip | Km | Surface | Grade | Start | Water and season |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ben Tre side lanes to the Cho Lach orchards | Ben Tre & Vinh Long | 40–50 | Concrete lanes, small canal bridges, short dirt sections | 2 | 06:00 | Dirt goes to mud after rain; wettest Sep–Oct |
| An Binh islet loop | Ben Tre & Vinh Long | 25–35 | Concrete lanes, ferry or bridge crossing | 2 | 06:00 | Riverside streets can flood at peak tides Oct–Nov |
| Chau Doc to Tra Su by road and dyke | An Giang | about 20 each way | Paved provincial road, then a paved dyke lane | 2 | 06:00 | Fields flooded on both sides Sep–Nov |
| Tra Su inner dyke path | An Giang | 2-hour site bike hire | Narrow paved dyke path | 1 | 06:30 opening | Year-round; most water Sep–Nov |
| Sam Mountain summit road on foot | An Giang | Climb to about 284 m | Paved road | 2 | 05:30 | Very crowded in the festival days of the 4th lunar month |
| Cam Mountain climb | An Giang | Climb toward 716 m | Flights of steps, steep paths; cable car down | 3 | 05:30 | Paths slippery in rain; avoid storm days |
| Tram Chim boat routes | Tram Chim | 12 or 21 by boat | Water | 1 | 05:30 or 16:00 | Deepest water Aug–Nov |
| Tam Nong dyke lanes | Tram Chim | 25–35 | Concrete dyke roads | 2 | 06:00 | Water on both sides in flood months |
| U Minh Ha canals by rowed boat | Ca Mau | 30–60 min on the water | Water | 1 | 07:30 opening | Boats go furthest in the rainy months May–Nov |

When each route works
Riding comfort and water levels together. April is the hottest month (Can Tho mean max about 34 °C); September is the wettest; the upper delta floods from about August to November.
The flood season page explains why the upper delta trips (An Giang, Tram Chim) have their good months when the lower delta trips have their worst.

What every trip includes
- A private English-speaking guide who rides or walks with you.
- A support vehicle with driver for transfers, bags, water and spare bikes; it waits at junctions where lanes are too narrow for it.
- Bikes sized to your height, helmets and a basic repair kit. Helmets are our rule on every ride, even though Vietnam's helmet clause (Law 36/2024, Article 33) is written for motorcycles and mopeds.
- Park tickets and boat fees on the days listed.
- Rooms as named on the quote: guesthouses, homestays and town hotels.
What is left out, and why, is on the pricing page. How a booking moves from form to confirmation is on how to book.

Which trip, if you only do one
First visit, two days, comfortable on a bike: the Ben Tre and Vinh Long lanes. It is the closest to Ho Chi Minh City and the riding is the point.
Three days and you want variety: An Giang. Wetland, two mountains and a border-town base in Chau Doc. It has the only real climb in the delta.
Travelling between August and November: Tram Chim, or An Giang, or both joined. The flood season belongs to the upper delta.
You want the edge of the map: Ca Mau. The expressway opened in full in January 2026, so four days now leaves real time on the ground.

Common questions
Questions travellers ask most
Why do you give km as a range?
Because the guide adjusts the route each day by the heat, a closed ferry or a flooded lane. The range is what we plan to; the lower figure is what we fall back to.
Can I shorten a day by riding in the van?
Yes. The support vehicle is there for exactly that. Riding in it for an hour costs nothing extra and nobody will comment.
Do you offer e-bikes?
Ask in the form. Under Vietnamese law an e-bike's motor assistance cuts out at 25 km/h, which suits these lanes. Availability depends on the area.
Are any trips suitable for children?
Teenagers who ride regularly manage Grade 2. We do not plan these routes for younger children; the distances and the heat are adult-scale.
